"My little brother has ADHD,"said a girl at the next table. A bunch of teenagers, about 16, were sitting next to me in Starbucks, where I had gone to wait for an hour. "He's got, like, two personalities. When he takes his medication, he's one brother, and when he goes off it, he's another kid."
"I used to be on Ritalin too," said a boy. "I just went off a year ago. It's kind of a relief but my schoolwork got worse."
"My boyfriend is like, a different person when he takes his Ritalin," said another girl. "It's like, 'Whoa, dude, what's wrong with your eyes?'"
Oh, that sounds scary! :-(

America loves to drug its children into submission rather than spend the time it takes to discipline, teach and raise them

That is so sad. Such a sad commentary.

Ritalin is sooo wrong. My brother was on it for years and when he got taken off it, he switched to pot.

These comments show how misunderstood ADHD actually is by people who have not been affected by it. Much behavior is outside of the control of the kids suffering from the disorder. Ritalin is a godsend for these kids, and yes, for their parents too. I promise you, you would NOT want to trade places with a parent dealing with the ugly side of ADHD.
