N's friend Paul has gone back to Paris and written me a letter saying he's disgusted to be back there. There have been only ten fair-weather days all summer in Paris-- the worst summer in thirty years-- so Paris-Plage was a bit of a bust.
"Isn't it wonderful?" said L, flipping through the fat September issues of fashion magazines. "All these winter clothes, and we don't need them!"

Oh la la! Back in LA... I KNOW you are enjoying HOT and SUNNY weather there! Yesterday was our first kind of sunny day... in 3 weeks... and TODAY was actually the NICEST day I have experienced ALL summer long in the Paris area... Thank God we went south this summer for 3 weeks... one of those was spent in cold and rain but the last two weeks were spent in 30-40 C weather under the sun and blue skies... I agree with your friend, Paul! This summer in France (mostly everywhere) has been pretty sucky!!! Let me know if you go down to San Diego... I grew up in Hollyweird but spent from age 17-41 in San Diego.. so I call myself a San Diegan!! Take care... Leesa

That LA weather must be so boring. At least here there is something to complain about. And a contrast, so you learn to really appreciate a nice day.
